About us

Malayalam Theatrical Heritage and Arts (MATHA), Calicut District, Kerala has been in the Indian scenario of art and culture for the past 15 years presenting audio-visual programmes all over the country and abroad on various solemn occasions. Focusing upon various aspects ofIndian history, its rich cultural tradition and artistic variety MAT H A has come out with a number of programmes that would inspire pride and esteem in the young generation by virtue of the depth, diversity and scope of the themes and uniqueness of presentation not attempted by anyone in the whole country.

Among our programmes Kavyasameeksha focuses on the poetic tradition of Kerala while Sargakeralam highlights the cultural tradition of Kerala. Sargabharatham is unique in its presentation of the cultural tradition of India and Jaihind explores the history of Indian independence struggle. All these have been conceived in an audio-visual format supported by Indian musical tradition (folk and classical) theatre, dance forms (folk and classical), folklore, history, and art forms like Kathakali, Koodiyattom, Ottamthullal, Theyyam, martial arts like Kalarippayattu. A group of talented artists and performers are actively involved in this endeavour. Several of the performances were under the auspices of responsible bodies like the Human Resources Department, Government of India, Cultural Ministry, Government of India, Kerala Tourism Department, Public Relations Department and Nehru Yuvak Kendra. Brief Details of MATHA

    Malayalam Theatrical Heritage and Arts (MATHA) is a Centre in Kozhikode District, Kerala promoting Studies and Research in Arts and Performance. It is a non-profit organization registered under Society Act (xxi of 1860) and internationally known for its cultural activities and performances. It has recently entered the Limca Book of World Records for its presentation of Bharatha Darsanam, the biggest theatrical work in the whole world, in which 1200 artists participated. More than seventy artists are getting constant training at this Centre which has enabled them to prove their talent during various stage performances. MATHA has presented theatrical performances in Delhi, Kolkatta, Ahamedabad, Gandhinagar, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, various parts of Kerala and in foreign countries on various occasions. Invitations have been received for performances under the auspices of the State and Central Governments. MATHA has also performed for the Central Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Department of Tourism and Ministry of Agriculture and the Cultural, Educational, Tourist and Home Departments of the State and also for various Cultural Organizations both in India and abroad.

Seminars and Workshops have also been organized.
